In addition to that, the unit oversees the investigation and arrest due process of drug dealers who are engaged in illicit drug transactions, organized and serious crimes, interdicting the importation of illicit drugs into the Somali territory, preparing narcotics related civil and criminal forfeiture cases involving illegal profits derived from drug transactions, maintaining chain of evidence, confiscating and destroying narcotics, assisting agencies in preparing successful narcotics cases for court.
This narcotics and dangerous drugs unit cooperate with the ministry of health in the implementation of law No.46, issued on march 3 1970, regarding the regulation of production, trading and distribution of medical drug.
The narcotics and dangerous drugs unit performs their duties according to the guidelines prescribed by the Attorney General. In addition to that, the narcotics and dangerous drugs unit is responsible to train the other related agencies and educate and provide public awareness raising about the narcotics and dangerous drugs.
The narcotics and dangerous drugs prosecution unit is led by highly well experienced prosecutor together with other prominent prosecutors including female prosecutor, prosecution officers and paralegals who support the unit.
