The maritime crimes unit is responsible for tackling all series of crime committed at the sea, included piracy which is probably the most notorious marine crimes and a major threat to maritime security globally and regionally.
Due to the extent and nature of maritime-related crime, the unit work closely with ministry of fisheries and marine resources, ministry of ports and marine transport as well international and cross-sector, which are vital in order to prevent, investigate and prosecute these crimes.
The appeal unit performs their duties according to the guidelines prescribed by the Attorney General. In addition to that, the unit is responsible to train the other related agencies and to educate and provide public awareness raising about the right to appeal as permitted by the laws.
The special prosecution unit performs their duties according to the guidelines prescribed by the Attorney General.
In addition to that, the maritime crimes unit is responsible to train the law enforcement agencies and to educate and provide public awareness raising about the maritime crime.
The maritime crime prosecution unit is led by highly well experienced prosecutor together with other prominent prosecutors including female prosecutor, prosecution officers and paralegals who support the unit, they are trained to prosecute all kinds of cases
